Brief description: Scar is tall, lean, and well-groomed. He has obviously aged gracefully; his hair is black and impeccably cared for, pulled into a low tail at the base of his neck, with a well-trimmed white goatee offsetting it. He carries himself regally, looking down on almost everyone regardless of their rank or physical stature. The scar from which he takes his name crosses over his left eye, cutting through his eyebrow but somehow leaving the eye itself intact; it lends him a somewhat rakish appearance that only enhances the impression he likes to present.
Brief personality/strengths/weaknesses: Scar is Better Than You. He has ego enough for both of the southern islands; he refuses to settle for less than he feels he deserves, and if he can't get what he wants by legitimate means he has absolutely no reservations about using whatever underhanded tactics he has at his disposal. If that means murder, burning bridges, or bribery, then so be it. He is a very talented speaker, easily swaying individuals or crowds with pretty words and grand vision, so only rarely is he left with insufficient resources. Externally, he also commands a large convertable airship, the Jackal, which, while a bit slow, is one of the most heavily-armored ships in the fleet.
What he does lack is any sort of loyalty in those he commands. He can make very impressive promises but at the first sign that he may be unable to deliver those around him are very quick to make it clear that they are allies, not friends. He goes out of his way to surround himself with less-than-brilliant henchmen in order to better keep control, but this has the unfortunate side effect of requiring him to personally oversee many of the things he deligates to others. Unsurprisingly, his ego has a way of grating on almost everyone he comes in contact with, and no amount of put-on humility can balance out the almost automatic dislike he so easily cultivates.
Brief history: Taka is the second-born of a wealthy, though not council, upperclass family, and was immediately cast into the shadow of his elder brother. The majority of his childhood he spent eclipsed by his brother's natural charisma and talent, and when he realized that he would not be able to overcome him in the eyes of their parents he set about distinguishing himself in other ways. He went out of his way to become unlike his brother, involving himself in politics and the cloak-and-dagger culture therein; if his brother could be considered the rare bright, honest face of the upper classes, then Taka was certainly the more common underhanded, sweet-talking and opportunistic one. There was a brief period of time in which he campaigned to be let onto the council despite his lack of bloodright to the position, but when it became clear that he would be getting nowhere that way he changed tactics, enlisting into the Aegean navy and climbing the ranks as quickly as possible. It was during this time that he acquired his characteristic scar, though he has never disclosed the details of its acquisition. Regardless of its origin, it quickly became his most distinguishing feature, to the point of "Scar" overtaking his real name in most references to him.
